S.H.A.R.E.
Enoch speaking to students about S.H.A.R.E.
Sexual Health and Reproductive Education (SHARE) project, is part of our comprehensive strategy aimed at combating the spread of HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among youth. SHARE works by creating awareness and understanding about sexual and reproduction processes, enabling youth to make more informed decisions regarding their bodies. SHARE introduces a sexual education curriculum in upper primary, secondary schools and at the community level, that incorporates innovative strategies such as; role-playing, debate, creative writing, and the sharing of personal experiences. This is a strategy that will lead us to achieving universal access to sexual and reproductive health and rights through a sustainable post-2015 development frame work.
http://rssaf.wordpress.com/grant-recipients/2012-recipients/ The curriculum allows for open discussion and dissemination of information by trained peer educators in a supportive environment. Participants receive knowledge of the physiological and anatomical development of the human body and sensitization on the devastating impact of HIV/AIDS and STIs that can lead to behavioural change. The information presented in these exchanges is intended to encourage young people to start a SHARE Club at their school to ensure continuous discussion of these important topics. These innovative strategies build a sense of communal ownership among the youth that gather to discuss HIV, reproductive health, family planning, and STI prevention. |
New Wave of S.H.A.R.ECFYDDI is going ahead to launch a new wave of SHARE clubs in new schools, especially those that had representatives attending the health and computer training camp.
the objectives of SHARE are: 1. To create safe, open spaces for continued dialogue to give and receive information about sex, sexuality and reproductive health with the view of preventing diseases including HIV. 2. To make the members aware of the social- economic environment and how it affects their life. 3. To educate Ugandan youth about sexual and reproductive health prior to becoming sexually active, as a measure to combat the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. 4. To provide constructive alternative forms of spending leisure by young people and adults. 5. To empower youth, especially young women, to practice safe sex and make informed wise sexual and reproductive health decisions. 6. To build a sustainable peer education program by equipping student SHARE clubs in secondary schools and communities with the training and tools to recruit and support peer educators. |
How Is Your Support Utilized?
Whether the support is in the form of material or monetary donations, or through your personal time, it will truly make a huge difference! The largest percentage of our funds goes directly to program implementation, then slants off into management/admin costs and core employee salaries.
The Change That Your Support Can Bring To A Youth Driven Development Initiative
Your support will help; fund a community awareness campaign on health issues including HIV/AIDS, enable peer educators to support wealth creation through sustainable production for youth and women’s advocacy groups, to organize local meetings, events and campaigns, and assist in mapping and networking and sharing technical assistance and capacity building amongst youth led organizations. To train interns and volunteers to give specialized youth-friendly services, allowing us to target children and equip our community library with essential education materials and programs. Sponsor a local SHARE peer educator, whose job would be to teach programs in and out of schools and providing urgently needed services to our community. Fund an annual Youth Week for students, educating them about leadership and imparting life skills.
